Everyone needs a mentor! A mentor is someone who takes an interest in you, offering guidance and suggestions as you move forward in your career.
If you are an experienced professional, chances are that somewhere along the way someone took some time to help you along. They may have given you a few ideas, some career suggestions, or even been involved in opening up career opportunities for you. The YPP mentoring program is a way for you to give back, by providing the same interest and guidance to someone else in the plastics industry.
If you are a young professional or a college student embarking on a plastics career, the YPP mentoring program is an excellent way for you to gain the wisdom of an experienced counterpart in the industry.
The YPP mentoring program teams young and experienced professionals by two routes. The first possibility is to designate these face-to-face relationships through SPE divisions and local sections. The second method involves setting up "on-line" mentors via the Internet. The Young Plastics Professionals committee of SPE, a special team appointed by the 1998-1999 SPE president, Norm Behn, has established this program.
